Quickstart Tutorial

Overview

This quickstart guides you through making a Self-Service Project.

It is intended for people new to using Research Toolkits who want to quickly try out some features.

Before you start

Faculty members at Duke University automatically have access to create Self-Service Projects within Research Toolkits. If you do not have this access but wish to use Research Toolkits, please email our team at rescomputing@duke.edu.

Make a Project

You will make a Self-Service Project.

Step 1: Log in to Research Toolkits

Visit Research Toolkits in your web browser.

Click "Log In" on the top-right of the screen.

Complete the Duke Shibboleth sign-in process.

You should now be logged in.

Step 2: Click "Create a New Project"

Click "Create a New Project"; a form to fill out should appear

Step 3: Fill out Project Form

We will only fill out the minimally necessary information for this tutorial.

Give the project any name, for example "quickstart tutorial".

Leave everything else in the form as-is.

Scroll to the bottom of the form, read the attestation statements, and click the box confirming that you agree.

Click the "Create Project" button at the bottom of the form.

Step 4: Confirm project has been created

You should be automatically navigated to the project page for your new project.

Furthermore, in the navigation bar's "Project" dropdown, you should see your new project listed.
